In April, Fred Matiang’i the cabinet secretary for interior and coordination of the national government vowed that he will introduce measures to introduce more stringent regulations of the betting sector. All betting sites were given 3 months to meet all conditions set down by the government, especially tax compliance.
In the past week the government cracked down on non-compliant betting sites and all their paybill numbers were subsequently suspended due to non-compliance. Besides tax compliance the betting sites were also expected to prove that they were functioning within the law and they were sufficiently liquid and able to meet all their financial obligations.
Some of the major betting sites were affected by the ban, including Sportesa, Betin, Betpawa, and 1xBet, and they remain banned by the government. Other betting sites that remain banned include Betyetu, elitebet, dafabet, sportybet, atari gaming, kenya sports bet, eastleighbet, cysabet, bungabet, and nestbet.
You can find a complete list of all betting sites that are not banned and have working paybills here.
